A pulse that rests

What does it mean to take your pulse when it is at rest? Does it mean that it gets tired and takes a nap? Does it stop everything; well no you would be dead. But this morning I awoke to the phone ringing to find that my heart was indeed at rest. I took it several times and found that it was around 46 – 48 bpm (beats per minute). So the journey on my feet has taken me towards a better overall cardio condition. How far can I take it? Only time will tell.

  1. Miguel Indurain is undoubtedly Spain's greatest cyclist, his resting heart rate was 28 bpm, less than half the rate of the average person's.
